Welcome everyone! My name is Denise Nelson and I am pleased to announce that I am your 2012 Philomath Frolic and Rodeo Queen. I have lived in the community for 18 years and graduated from Philomath High School in 2010. I attended Yavapai Community College in Prescott, Arizona and received my EMT Basic Certification. Recently, I have moved into our local Philomath Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter/EMT. I plan on completing my Associates Degree in Paramedics and Fire Science. Currently, I am enrolled in classes at Chemeketa Community College and work in Philomath at our family owned business, West Coast Machine. During my reign you’ll see me and my 5 year old mare, Peaches, representing our great rodeo!
I would like to invite you all to our 59th annual Philomath Frolic and Rodeo, held the second full weekend in July. It is a fun filled weekend packed with 4 NPRA sanctioned rodeos, Grand Street Parade, and many family activities. This weekend will draw cowboys, cowgirls, and fans from all over the Northwest! Although the Philomath Frolic is known for our fabulous rodeo, we also host several events throughout the year! Some of the events include the PF&R Craft Fair, the Northwest Youth Rodeo Association Finals and Mary’s Peak Shrine Trek. Keep an eye out for other events that may occur during my reign!
Ever since I can remember my favorite part about every year was July. Not for the fireworks, or because it was summer, but because that meant it was time for the Philomath Frolic and Rodeo. As a little girl I can remember Scott Allen announcing our Queen and the chills that went up my spine. I dreamed of the day that it would be my name that heard announce to the crowd. Now that day has finally come, and I look forward to being a part of not only this rodeo, but a part of this family. I am excited to get the honor of representing my community and my rodeo all over the great state of Oregon! I hope to see each and every one of you at the 2012 Philomath Frolic and Rodeo held July 12-15.
